I really like Intenze, mom's is pretty damn good too. What ever you do DO NOT touch scream ink, you might as well piss in the ink cup if your gonna use that stuff. |

You should not be tattooing if you don't know the answer to that question. There are many reputable pigments that will help a professional artist produce a great tattoo. I personally don't stick to one brand, instead, I prefer certain colors from different manufacturers. The following are solid brands: Starbright Dermaglo Stable Intenze Millennium Iron butterfly Kuro sumi National |

heres an interesting one.
no ink is the best ink, or it would be the only one used and sold. for the first person who said scream ink, thats rediculous. scream ink doesn't make you better at tattooing, and i think you should quit giving people advice, because you dont know what your talking about.
my advice:
don't use scream ink. its dull, everytime ive used it, it wasn't any good, and its real pasty. i would say starbrite would be a good choice. the color is normally real vivid and has a good life expectancy, assuming the collector has practiced proper aftercare. |

The new Skin Candy Tokyo blends And Kabuki Black's are amazing. However like dude said up top there isn't just one brand of ink that beats the rest. I like Starbrite's yellow and whites, then I prefer mom's blues and greens, and also Intenze, Stable, Dynamic, & Fantasia colors. It's all about the artist bro. I mean I've seen so many forums asking what's the best ink? what's the best ink? for days, and there is really only one answer for that and every real artist will tell you this, THERE ISNT A BEST INK. Cause what ever goes in good for you I may not like, and whatever I may recomend to u umay not like.... And about Scream ink, It's the same shit as MOM's EXACT SAME |

Anybody who works in this industry knows that only through time and experience, trial and error will each person find their favorite colors of each brand of ink. Every artist I know, including myself, builds a customs set of inks for their use cobbled together from all the well known and reliable brands including: Starbrite, Intenze, Eternal, Millenium, Dynamic, Stable, Waverly, Skin Candy, Classic. That's just to name a few...BTW...I've been using the new Alla Prima black and i love it...anybody out there tried any of the colors yet? And i almost forgot Silverback is a kickass greywash set. Just my opinion..thought I'd throw it out there. |

to the person who asked about prizm ink from superior tattoo....that ink is complete shit. it is very very dull. it's cheap so it might be good for someone to practice with but i would never put it on a customer. i personally like mom's ink, it's never given me any problems and all of the colors are very bright. |

I've found that most of the Eternal colours are brilliant, with the exception of light red, light purple and the yellows are great for highlighting but shit for solid block colour. Intenze black has to be the best black I've used so far and I've just started using the Starbright colours which, so far, I've found worked brilliantly, the white has to be the best white out there!!! |

Thanks for the honest answer humbletat. here what I discovered so far: kuro sumi ink is great if you want the fadded japanese look (look at books on japanese tatoos), The black turns blue, I hear talon turns a little blue, Skin candy japanese ink too & fades, The only one that stays true black is "Intenze Zuper Black" but it is thick chalky shit - your have to use lots of vaseline to wipe it off the skin. Skin candy pink does not stick nor there light green but the bellbottom blue is phoenomenal, Prizm & Intenze white did not stick. skin candy white kept a fadded egg white look even after 3 coats. Stop being stingy w/ the info guys! Tell us what brands have the best colors that stick & stay true! Otherwise don't reply & waste our time telling us the diffeance between ink & pigment terminology nonsense! |

Classic Color Systems Tribal Black. It seems too thin at first, but is so easy to put in, wipe, and clean up, and it stays black and beautiful. The white is almost too easy to pack in and heals fast. Their bright Yellow is the only yellow I've ever used that I can see immediately while I'm working, and it's blinding. They have some other nice colors, but those three are hot. |

com'on boyz..... If you've been payin' attention to the the first 100 people you've worked on; has anyone & or anyobody that ever called you back took care of the tattoo to begin with? So,heres my limited 18 yrs exp. all ink can work in the the right medium i.e.needle size, tat style and client skin health. it's a crap shoot some where between good needles(1st) Decent and concistant ,skin flow, a little luck and the experience to notice the ink actually penitrating or repelling the individuals dermis within the first 2 or 3 minutes. It is trial and error per person some black stays beautiful some doesnt.remember, each person is different just the same as the design you are are appyling. Yes I know that this is not a direct answer but be patient dont be affraid of trying old-er trusted brands such as national tattoo supply electic blue is muted on some but go slow for opt' brightness(beacause you can still buy dry pigmnents in bulk and disprese accordingly you can be the judge ) 0r adding brighter highlights fom starbright like canary or lime, just dont ever mix with new brands over all with other brands they cause problems for most. do so in seperate settings if ness. |

as an apprentice i've done allot of research, i put allot of work into my craft. so stop asking questions about tattooing. work and learn like everyone else, and if you can't take it...don't.
our shop uses intenze...and each artist picks from other brands. Not one company does everything well. Ink is a knowledge you get from putting in the hours. |

This is a great thread, thx for all the info. So what i have learned is that there are many different good inks, and it varies from the artist what they like to work with. When i want to try different ink brands, then what is the best to test them on (exept humans) :-D |

I can't attest to it personally as I don't tattoo, but I can say the large majority of our 60+ tattooers at the shop use a combo of intenze and eternal. I've also seen a few people starting to use Alla Prima. But thats more of an observation than opinion. |
