Yes, tattoos on the feet sting like hell (for most) and no, you shouldnt have any problems with ink loss unless you wear something really restrictive on it while its healing. Your artist will give you a full list of do's and dont's for your foot tattoo. |

In my experience tattoos on extremites (speaking in general) do tend to heal with more difficulty than others. Below the wrists and ankles the skin tends to shed so quickly and so often that its difficult for tattoos in those areas to heal properly, however if ya take special care of them it should be ok!!!...TAz |

Hey, I don't have a good rosary tattoo picture, but I just wanted to let you know that I got a tattoo on my right foot just above my toes about a year ago (it's the Aramaic word for "beloved") and it really didn't hurt too bad at all. Like, you're obviously aware of the fact that someone is tattooing your foot, but it was nowheres near even tearing up (and I tear up easily, believe me.). Plus, I have not had to get it touched up at all since I got it, it healed just fine, no problems at all, even when I was wearing flipflops and the straps rubbed over it, and I was told I don't need to get it touched up for a couple of years. I'll probably have it touched up in about a year and a half or so, so that I can have the same artist do it before I leave college, but I know that I don't necessarily have to. I hope that all helps! |

Then you are one of the lucky ones! MOST people who get tattoos on the extremities find it not only more painful but very hard to heal! |

The tattoo on my foot healed near perfect. My wifes foot has been tattooed twice and both times it peeled off like a f@#$ing sticker with traces left behind. sucks! |

I got a ladybug tattooed on the side of my ankle and it took about 10 minutes. I have 5 other tattoos, all of which took between 1-3 hours... none of them hurt as much as my ankle. Plus, it went all skanky, but I think that had more to do with the tattooist who was a bit pants! |

I don't have a rosary but I did get a colored tat across my foot (Blues, Purples, Pinks, and Greens) and had zero trouble with it. As I have had it two years I was expecting fading by now because of the area I have it but I have had zero issues. It didn't hurt that terrible either. Depending on the area of the foot it hurt worse...by the arch was the worst for me. But honestly I think it all depends on the artist, location, and your own tolerance to pain. If you take care of it while it is healing I don't see why there should be an issue with bleeding or fading based on my experience.
Around here it is actually really hard to get a good artist to tattoo your foot because most won't gaurentee their work because it fades or bleeds. Take the time to educate yourself and make sure you are going somewhere because the artist can do what you want...not just because they will do your foot. |

Didin't your artist tell you about the effects of the sun on a fresh tattoo? Or did ya just ignore him and hope for the best? |

Tattoos on the foot aren't any more painful than ones on any other part of hte body. I have a small butterfly, and the colour still looks really good on it. I think a rosary tattoo would probably hurt more thou if you have it done the whole way down your foot. Just try not to twitch your foot too much cus the sensation makes u wanna move your foot really bad! |

I just got a tat on my left foot/ankle 2 days ago. It is a mountain bike with vines and flowers, the bike and vines start on the outer top side of my foot, just above my toes. The vine and flowers then continue up my foot and circle the outer ankle bone, the vine branches off and crosses the intersection of my foot/ankle and curl around the inner ankle bone. For me, the pain wasn't bad, the weirdest thing was like mentioned in the previous post, hitting a nerve occasionally where it would activate the reflexes in the leg, causing a twitch. The artist was well aware of this and prepared, he had a good grip on my foot. It's sort of like hitting the funnybone nerve, but less painful and lasts just 1 or 2 seconds. I could feel it up into my hip sometimes. Odd but not painful. Just makes your leg jump. BTW, it's an AWESOME tat! I'm really happy. My foot is swollen a little but not red or anything. I have read that the swelling in normal with feet tats. |

A proper Rosary has 59 beads, so, unless you wrap it around the ankle a couple times, what you folks are talking about is not a Rosary, It is a chain with a cross, something considerably different, like the necklace (not Rosary) Nicole Ritchie has which quite possibly started this craze. I 've seen a number of these so-called 'Rosaries' done on ankles (and elsewhere) and damn few were accurate (none around ankles) and I assure you, the wearers were not too happy to find out their 'Rosary' really wasn't a Rosary. And, somehow I seriously doubt I'm the only person who notices these, bear in mind it is not something that can be 'added' later. Google Rosaries if you think I'm wrong. Doc |
