Emily Kay was born in Portland, Oregon in 1987. Growing up in the Willammette Valley, Emily spent a great majority of her childhood drawing and creating. In college, Emily focused on art, specifically life drawing and oil painting. During this time, she began getting tattooed and became interested in making tattooing a career for herself. She pursued an apprenticeship for tattooing in 2010 and landed one at Vertigo Gallery Tattoo in East Portland. She has worked there ever since.

Emily specializes in large scale custom work, meaning any reference you show her for your tattoo idea will be redrawn by her, and the bigger, the better. Her hourly rate is $120. Emily does not tattoo tribal. Recently, there has been an increased ammount of emails to Emily, and not everyone will be responded to. The best way to communicate with Emily regarding tattoo work is to come in and talk to her face to face. No appointment is necessary for a consult.
