3 month old tattoo is still raised

3 messages · last activity 11/10/2010

I got a small white tattoo on my wrist about 3 months ago. I followed the artists care instructions (A&D ointment 4 times a day for 4 days, then switch to lotion) for about a month and a half, and it was still raised. I switched back to A&D ointment, but I've had no luck. I'm concerned that since it's been so long, it has healed this way permanently. Is there another way to make it smooth out?
sounds like you got some sun on it not long after it was done. the sun will do this. or could be a reaction to the ink. it should come down some but will always be raised some. i have a dragon on right arm done when i was 19 and got sun on it and it raised, but it looks pretty cool that way 3d but i dont suggest getting sun on a new tat i just got lucky. good luck ron
too much A&D can suffocate your tattoo. this may also cause a reaction, which would make it raised. also, ITS A WHITE TATTOO. i dont know how much you've read on those things or not, but a lot of people have bad reactions to all white tattoos. its hard to say what the root cause of the swelling is since there are so many possible factors and variables such as what i said and the sun like that other guy said; so it could be any number of things. and it may or may not go down, just have to hope it does. i wouldn't put anything else on it. you may have done too much already.
