A Together Tatoo

My husband and I have gone through a really rough time with our house and financial things and what we go through makes us even more in love together we know we'll be together forever and we both wanted a tatoo that joins us together so like when we connect them they go together...any ideas of what to symbolize "i've been through hell and back and we'rre still together" and where to put it

A symbol of going through hell and back could be a cross. I am getting one done with my own counterpart. One half (mine) will be silverish and sort of angelic, the symbol of heaven or other. And my other shall get the fiery half mostly. In the end we'll have a bit of both. Why not get wings or something? But something on your arms so that you can make it look like it's one.
