Sounds like a scam.
Whether you use tattoo goo, tat wax etc the way your tattoo heals and what the color looks like depends on so many factors such as your artist, the ink they used, how YOU take care of it, and whether or not you use sunscreen in the summer, etc etc etc. The products on the market today are much like anything you purchase for skin care- clever marketing is how it is sold and when you think about it money in package design etc play a huge part on all of that.
Whenever I look at any product I do my research first and read the ingredients to uncover how much is hype and how much is fact. Everyone has a different opinion on what works well and what doesnt-some say good ol fashion A&D, others use Aquaphor and some Bacitracin. I have looked into other products such as Tattoo Goo and Tat Wax and based on their ingredients they use a lot of essential oils with a touch of numbing agent (in the case of tat wax specifically) and carrier oils such as grapeseed, coconut etc. Each oil including the carrier oil has specific properties in healing skin-so read up is my advice.
Good luck!
