I have heard allot about no A&D and how it breaks down gloves but haven't heard any alternatives to replace it and solve this problem. I strive to provide the safest tattooing experience for my customers. So I am up for any suggestions to an alternative cause as I have seen it every where at any shop I walk into that is what they use. But I do care a bout my health and the health of those I tattoo so if there is alternative.
Alternatives to A&D for tattooing

vaseline, bacatracin,or good ol BAG BALM.ive used em all i use the vaseline or bag balm. bag balm is very good for during and after.i try to stay away from the bacatracin as it contains minerals in it that a lot of people may be allergic to.
Both of these don't help still containing the most of the same ingredients that cause A&D to break down latex or nitrile so it seems I will stay with using medical A&D till I know of an alternative that is proven.
Some artists use A&D on their gloves and then smear it on the tattoo...this probably causes a breakdown in the gloves.
I think A&D is fine if you change your gloves often and don't put the A&D directly on the glove.
I like to put a glob of A&D on the skin and leave it there for when I need it.
sorry my bad i miss read the actual question.i have never had a problem with breakdown from using any of the ointments. but then again i can change up to 8 pairs of gloves on just one setting. really just depends on whats going on.although i do wonder how long the period of ointment being on said material before breakdown occurs
