Any good tattoo schools you can suggest?

3 messages · last activity 3/30/2006

Hey, i'm new to this board, and if required to join i will... I came across this site while doing a search for tattoo schools... hence my posting here. Does anyone know of any good tattoo schools, especially in the state of NY. NY is where i reside, but right now i am in Augusta, GA due to being in the military.. I started drawing tats in November '05 and am still currently doing it. I have become more then obsessed with drawing them. My specialty is Tribal. I am obsessed w/ Tribal and Black and Grey. I have alot of tattoos on me as well, and i like getting them too. I've always wanted them since i was very little and young when i first saw a sleeve on one guy and just stared at it for the longest time and just thinking in my head, wow, that's so cool, i have to have that... anywho, i've been doing some browsing around and am wondering if you know of any good tattoo schools... preferably in New York State or near Ft. Gordon or Augusta, Georgia? Plz let me know... and most schools i seen are 2 week courses... Are those worth the money or should i not even bother? Apprenticeships seem like a more honest route, but i dunno... i'd like to receive some instruction too... Email me as i may not check this board as often as others do: [email removed] thanks. p.s. i don't have my sketchbooks up online yet at my site, but i will be doing that soon. Here it is for now: http://www.angelfire.com/crazy/tatz/

As Taz mentioned, check the back posts. You can't possibly learn what there is to learn about tattooing within a 2 week timeframe, as this is something that you spend the rest of your life learning. You'll also notice in the back posts that most pro artists don't exactly endorse the "tat school" method, but plenty of hopefuls that don't have the drive to pursue a proper apprenticeship rave about the concept.
