Ok this has beet bothering me. can you still do good tattoos if you cant draw? for instance i can take two or three differant sheets of flash and combined differant images and come out whith great looking art and i can draw pretty good it is just easyer to trace.I am currently looking for an apprentaceship but now i dont know if i should even feel good about handing the artist my portfolio and showing my flash, but they are in a way my art and desighns but they originated from someone else I would just like an artists perspective thanks for the time............RAGE
Nope. If you are not an artist, you can hope to be a flash jockey at best and the world already has 1 too many of those. Why would I try to be a mechanic if I didn't know ass about engines (but I can follow the manual!). I very first thing I say to anyone who asks me about how to become a tattoo artist is: "Can you draw your ass off?". Most say yes, most of them are lying or delusional. You admit that you can't draw, so, conversation over... pick another career field.
Spend some time at www.drawspace.com - a great site to learn how to draw. :) I just started taking my drawing more seriously and I've been spending a lot of time there and more time drawing. It is sooo freeing to be able to draw without frustration. I have a long way to go but you'll start to see results immediately and it's quite gratifying. Not to mention you'll make a MUCH better tattoo artist.
