Black and Grey Artists

K the first black and grey artists I became familiar with was Paul Booth. Beautiful and dark , crisp and debauchery. A few years ago I had some magazine with some foreign cat that did like cathedral looking work in black and greys. Now I'm the first to say I"m out of the loop when it comes to well known artists but, who else out there would anyone reccommend for black and grey work? I'm not into doing black and grey myself I've attempted it many times and it's not something I'm comfortable with I'm more a traditional guy I'd like to think but like anything else If you're not good keep trying you'll get better. So I look to artists I look up too and make feeble attempts at imitating some of their work. I'm not into portraits AT ALL even though it's along the black and grey line.I prefer the black and grey realism to anything. Well anything that I consider to be inspirational and makes me want to push harder in my own abilities. so that's a coupla random ass topics for the world have at it.

i think you can admire and be inspired by an artist or art that you don't find as equally satisfying to do yourself, all the while being good at what you do and exploring your "niche" so to speak.

black and grey, I admit that Im definitely a color realism kinda guy, but there are some amazing black and grey artists out there. Off the top of my head... Bob Tyrell currently in toronto, Robert Pho from Las Vegas, Big Gus from LA, Tom Renshaw in the Detroit area, Kore Flatmo from Cincinnati, Joshua Carlton, Shane Oneill, Nikko from outside LA (though he is known for color Im sure)... I KNOW I missed a few of my favorites but Im working!

Thanks a shitload peoples. There's enough links and names to keep me stuck in front of this monitor for a day or two , and well I'm just too busy for that but thanks alot. At least I've got what seems like a bunch of great artists to look for.

I am looking for a black and grey artist in the Portland Metro area. I want a floral/asian influenced tat down my spine but want someone that specializes in black and grey. Anyone have any suggestions? I am even willing to go to Seattle, WA if I need to.
