bruise on inner arm from tattoo?

I have a tattoo on my upper inner arm - it's over a month old and it still looks like a light black bruise under it....it's a little swollen and it's not getting any better looking or worse. Someone said it could be a muscle bruise which could take ages to go away, but I'm not sure it's a bruise.....anyone know what's going on ? I've never bruised from a tattoo before

While it's impossible to tell for sure without seeing a picture, what you're describing sounds like 'blowout', when the 'artist' goes too deep, thru the skin and the pigment gets into the fluid layer causing a 'bruise like' shadow under the skin. If you could post a pic we could be more accurate but most bruises don't last a month...Doc
