Just wondering if anybody knows if there is a meaning to a "Canary" tattoo. I have my own meaning for getting one, but just wanted to know if anyone out there has ever gotten one or knows any meaning to it ( like the sparrow, bluebird, swollow debate...).
Thanks

i dunno bout tattoos...but canaries make me think of coal mines... canaries were the miners early detection warning system of carbon monoxide gas presence - quiet, distressed or dead canaries were the sign to get out ... then theres always Tweety
Yeah, thats my take on the canary too, "canary in a colemine". Life is short, do shit before you run out of air.
Canary tattoos originated with the Navy I believe. It was a sign for the Seamen that were out on the ship for long periods of time that when they saw the canary, they were close to land, making them glad to be back home ya know?
i think you are getting this bird confused with the mighty sea gull.......
That might be an albatross too.
Now there's a tattoo i've yet to do...
the canary traditionally symbolises;
Beauty of voice
Use of song in healing
Finding your soul’s song
Happiness
Ability to find joy in song during times in darkness/shadow
