Color Covering ?

Question regarding color covering in tattoos. I recently got a multi-colored tattoo. Although I am happy with the overall design, there is a particular relatively minor portion of the tattoo that is colored in yellow, which I realize I extremely dislike. Is it possible to successfully cover yellow ink in another color, such as red? And if so, approximately how long should I wait to attempt the cover, as this tattoo is not even one week old. Also, would it be in my best interest to contact the original artist in regards to this, as I would not like to offend him on his choice in coloring this portion. Thanks for the help!

To answer your questions as directly as possible: 1) Yes, you can go over yellow with red, wait until the tattoo is healed completely though (at least 6 weeks) to avoid going into skin that is too thin and not fully healed. 2) If your artist is of good character, definitely go back, (s)he should understand, and if not, walk away and find another artist that is still reputable but doesn't get offended if you have a difference of opinion. When it's fully healed, you may have a change of mind; perhaps the yellow is there for a reason. Without seeing the tattoo, it's tough to assist.

Thanks a lot for the advice, that is reassuring to know. My only problem now is maintaining the patience for it to fully heal. The actual rose petals were done in black, red, and yellow. My artist said he'd use the yellow to make the rose "pop", which it does. But I find it to be an unattractive color on my skin tone, as well as a clash to my personal style. Hopefully my artist will be understanding to this, if not I hope I don't have problem finding who will be.

Last question, I'm waiting for tommorrow to call my artist's shop to see about the color cover. But I don't think I can sleep tonight without knowing wether coloring over yellow ink with red will create orange? If I do cover the yellow portion of my tat with red ink, will the red be true? Do I need to worry about the 2 colors fading into a pale blend of orange?? Thanks!

You may notice that where the yellow was, it might be SLIGHTLY brighter than the other red (but most likely not), and if you did, it wouldn't be an orange color if your artists does the job correctly.

i have rather the same problem as the guy/gal with the yellow. my tattoo is new as well i love the tattoo and all the colors, except one.BLUE, my girl looks like a smurf! blue is a dark color, anything i can do for her? what would happen if white was applied? then maybe a lighter color of my chocie, i want her to be peach, white and pink, is there anything i can do or will me and smurfiet have to learn to get along?or if not my choice colors what can i do to fade her color?or what colors do you suggest
