Color Machine Question

Hi, I have a quick question about my color machine, hopefully I can get a little insight. I have an apprenticeship at Tattoo the Body Embellished in Sacramento, Ca. I've started tattooing there now, done about 7 so far (I'll probably be posting photos for feedback at some point) I have my own liner and shader from Ozark Irons (I love them), and I recently ordered a color machine. When I got the machine I noticed it's set to run a little faster than the shader, still slower than the liner though, and I was under the impression that they are supposed to be slower. I haven't had a chance to run it loaded yet, I'm sure it will be just as lovely as the liner and shader I got, as I trust the manufacturer... but I've been receiving conflicting viewpoints from fellow artists in the shop about whether the color machine is supposed to be slower or faster... any opinions? I'm thinking my best bet is to get tattooed by an artist I know uses them so I can watch her and ask questions, but do you think it'd be beneficial to try some out on grapefruits at the shop as well?
