Cover up bad script tattoo?

4 messages · last activity 10/24/2007

I did something very stupid and hasty and got a free tattoo last week by a new, somewhat inexperienced artist. It is black script on my inner arm, the tattoo is small - it's about 3 inches wide, and 1 inch tall. I really love the idea of the tattoo (a bunch of my friends got them at the same time as a memorial to a friend who died) .. the problem is: everyone else's looks pretty good, but mine looks like poo. The artist accidentally wiped off the stencil while he was tattooing me, and then somewhat haphazardly drew on what he wiped off with, and then kept on tattooing... so it looks kinda sloppy and doesn't match up correctly. I'm trying really hard to like it, but I just can't. Ok - my point: I am obviously unhappy with what I have on my arm right now, so I am going to make an appointment with a friend of mine (this one is established and has done some great work) who works here in NYC about fixing the script and adding some stuff around it. Since the script is pretty small and sort of wonky looking - is this something he will be able to fix? Or am I going to have to suck it up and have him just cover it up with something else entirely? And my last question, if a cover up is necessary, I have a picture of a big crazy flower I would love to get (that I have wanted put on my for years) but the flower is pink, granted it's many shades of pink from dark to light... is it possible to cover up black script with pink ink? Thanks in advance
Yes lol. Just a matter of finding the right artist among a few other things. Let the tattoo heal, get a relatively inexpensive laser treatment, then go see a qualified tattoo artist.
Tattoos like that always come with a price to pay. Google some shops in your town, then start refining portfolios. If the tattoo was badly done, it may be able to be covered it.
