custom coil covers

I was wondering if any of you machine builders could tell me a little about how you put custom covers on coils. are they just glued on to the shrink wrap? ive always liked the high end machines with the custom leather or snakeskin and other exotic covers but cant afford to pay the extra money for them so i thought i might try to make my own. thanks Erik
