OK, so I have read some interesting blogs from TAz and I must say he sounds like he knows what he is talking about. So this question is for you if you are still out there. Can a good artisit make good tattos? My husband has always done really good in drawing in every type of art and is now curious about tattooing. Do you think it is possible?

Can a good artist make a good tattooist? In my experience I would say yes, most definately. Having a clear understanding of art, lighting, shadows and design as well as color theory helps you when designing your clients artwork for their skin. Learning how machine works, which needles to use, the behavior of colors in the skin, disinfection and sterilization practices etc however is technical art and this is is where it can get dicey.
Some people can draw their asses off, but as with many artforms there are at times limitations depending on the artist's use of tools. Unlike chosing whether or not to use acrylics vs oil this type of art has much more risks involved, and careful training not to mention time to develop your touch takes time. Some people can pick up a machine completely understand it and work in less time than others-but they have to learn what works and what doesn't, and again this is an art form with chance of infections and illnesses if not done correctly.
Both my husband and I tattoo as a form of artistic expression and an extention of our art-but we both also learned and completely committed ourselves into learning everything we could, assisted other tattoo artists to learn from them and only when we felt truly comfortable did we begin to work out the challenges made by using a machine and we just worked on ourselves first...we love it more than anything and continue to work on our passion in ink. If your husband is serious, committed and willing to learn new things AND accept the fact that you will have to learn from others and find someone who is willing to teach you as well you can certainly do it. I can't imagine my life before tattoos--and now I can't imagine my life without it.
