Does a tattoo on your foot fade?

i wanted to get a tattoo on my foot but i heard that it fades very easily i was wondering if anybody has had this experiance.

I've had both feet and ankles outlined ( 5 hours each) over the last several weeks, and already it's obvious that some of the lines are going to have to be gone over again. I was hoping to possibly reinforce the lines with color when we begin that phase, but the artist even said after looking at it that the lines are going to need to be touched up. Bear in mind, however, that the lines we're talking about are on the side of the foot, and not the top. The skin in this area of the foot has been said time and again to be problematic for tattooing. This part of my foot is taking forever to heal, with some of the thick scabbed surface ink still in place, while the rest of the work is in the thin peeling stage. Since the work was done, I've been wearing a product called Down Unders, which is a strapless sandal that adheres to the bottom of your foot. These eliminate any clothing or shoe contact on the art, and are probably the most ideal footwear for healing a tattoo, so rubbing hasn't been a factor in the line fade. Going into this project, I knew it was a gamble, and I was optimistic that the tattoo would hold well with careful and meticulous aftercare. While it's only been a few weeks since my first foot was done, I'm somewhat concerned that this may be an ongoing problem, with lines and color needing frequent touch-ups. Time will tell. On the flipside, the pain during the work was laughable, and not nearly the horror story that I was expecting. Getting out of bed the next morning was another story, when I put my full weight on my freshly tattooed foot, only to be hit a moment later with an unexpected excruciatingy painful rush of blood which pooled in the lower calf region of my leg. My leg felt like a grenade had gone off inside of it! It's not a mistake I made a second time. This is something that anyone getting a foot or lower leg tattoo should be made aware of. Take a minute before walking, and gradually increase the amount of weight you put on the affected extremity until you can stand on it comfortably. Good Luck! TCE

Hi there, i have also worn these strapless sandals or thongs as we call them here in Australia. Aren't they the best? I reckon they're good for showing them off too after. Don't mean to be pedantically Australian, but I'm not sure they can be referred to as "thongs" if they don't have the upper (thong) strap part to them. Pity how the word now has an American meaning at odds...reminds me of the first time I used the term "rubber" in a classroom full of Americans (It means "eraser" here). Ya gotta laugh, eh?

the rubber thing happend to my friend when he moved to canada. the top parts of the foot it shouldnt have a problem, until you get to the side or the bottom, cause your foot sheds skin there alot. so a tattoo wouldnt really stay.

i got one on my foot, and it is my favourite one i have, and its not faded sice the day i got it i suppose everyones experiences are different
