I own a successful shop and it just really gripes my ass when I hear of an artist from the shop down the street doing work in peoples home. I had a girl post some "cool" pics of her new tattoo on our myspace. When looking at it we realize who it is and they are in someones house. Now we do events from time to time but with the counties blessing. You can only perform work in this county and are only permitted while in the facility.
It is the house parties and tattoo parties that keep people from coming to the qualified shop and it pisses me off.
Should I worry about it so much? Are we overthinking it? I know that people get what they pay for but when you have an investment like I do it is hard not to get hot under the collar. It is very hard for new artists to get their foot in the door of a good shop and I realize that but it still pisses me off! Does anyone else have hard feeling stowards it or should I just not worry about it.
Does anyone else have a problem with artists doing work out of houses?

You should certainly worry about it. I would reference the topic called "sidejobs" it addresses this very issue but from the other side.
worry away and waist your emotional time.scratchers hackers and all are here and there not going to go away any time soon.goverement regulation?i think not they can and have fucked up a wet dream. im in a shop but i also have clients in another state most of these clients REFUSE to go to any shops there if im not guest spotting there these are dedicated clients i must say. so while im down there i will perform my art out of there house. with all saftey and such.it is ok with my boss at the shop as he knows what its like to take care of your private clients. when they can they come to me at the shop.but with the economy the way it is its pretty fucking hard for most.unless youre seeing just flat out crap or worse like infected tore up shit i wouldnt waist my time worrying. focus on you your shop and QUALITY from you shop and artist.infact think about it this travel practice wasnot too long ago with the carnival traveling tattoo artist and a lot of the old and famous did this to make there living. no where do i read on how they worried about this.they see crappy work they would say ill fix it for ya.keep it real and you will do ok.
