Dont flame me

Hi All, I have been reading on this forum for a while now and I must say a little reluctant to post. Now I have a problem, I am very interested in tattooing and have been inked myself! The problem is I have now started to doubt my artistic ability. Now a lot of people say I'm a very good artist but I now am beggining to wonder. I would never dream of "scratching" and would love to get an apprentaship I have been around my local area but with no luck (dont think I'm asking or anything, if I did Ii know I would be flammed) What I was wondering was if a few of you veterens could take a look at a few of my pictures and tell me if I have a base to work from? These guys will definitely be able to tell you where your art needs work, but (and no offense to ya vets) don't let these guys ever tell you that you won't be good enough to tattoo someday. Getting advice is great, but after that man, just work work work...nobody can tell you no but yourself. Of course art school and stuff doesn't hurt. Jeremy

I did 2 years at art school, but I felt that you were always told what or asked what to draw I was never free to develop my own stuff or own style (which I hope I have by now). Anyway about posting a link....... I haven't got a site to put one up but I will this weekend and post it here. Thunder

I used to think that too, but there's something to be said for learning propper color schemes...well, just the technical shit that you could be told in a few years instead of waiting 10 to figure out by yourself. Not to mention, when you get to tattooing, you need to be able to be diverse and draw a lot of different stuff. Consider your teacher your client. I would like to think that your style has more to do with your personal creativity than your technical skills. Jeremy

You can gain a lot of knowledge from formal training but when it comes down to it you have to develop your own style and skill...no teacher in the world is gonna turn you into an artist...only you can do that...Send me some pics!!

Not bad, you do have some talent. With practice and training you could do quite well as an artist.

Thanks for the kind words, I know I need a lot more practice. I have neglected my artwork for far too long and have a real problem liking my own work. This is really the first few sketches I have done for a few years, this is cos of work comitments and having a baby son! but I am so unhappy with my current job and there was something missing. So I started picking up my pencil/pen again and cant stop. I wish I had done somthing eairlier and not waited so long Thunder
