Dulling bright colors

6 messages · last activity 10/5/2008

Hi all first time posting... Been tattooing for 2 years now and I haven't had this problem before so I thought I'd throw it out here. Working on a full color Shiva/Vishnu tattoo and the customer isn't exactly complaining but he thinks the colors are too bright for his taste and wants to know if I can dull them down a bit - not finished yet so plenty of time to try something to make him happy. Vishnu has skin thats pretty much straight Dermaglo light blue from Eikon. I was thinking a pass with grey wash on top might dull it down a bit but I don't want to make it much darker just duller. Shiva has an orange tiger skin loincloth thats way too bright orange - was thinking of a brownish greywash over that might calm it down... not really sure and don't want to experiment on it so looking for advice Any help appreciated
hmm jeez guess my question was not controversial enough or maybe I should ask for the 1000th time about white ink or ask about a tattoo shop in Mumbai haha I'm not a scratcher, I apprenticed for a year and a half BEFORE I even picked up a machine to work on someone. - I have links if somebody wants to see my work before answering... Anyways it's a legit question hope someone can give me an idea of how to tackle it - Personally I don't think it's such a giveaway to a scratcher (they're still figuring out the basics) but you can do so privately if you don't want to tell everyone...
While I hope what you started your 'follow up' post with is not the case, I know I personally have no suggestions as I've never had that problem so I can't offer any reliable info (sorry) Although the 'theory' of your original ideas do sound possible, I simply don't KNOW and would hope someone with the proper advice CAN /does answer as it is a 'new' question I'd be curious to know if that ever became a 'problem'.
You might try emailing a few artists directly. I might email the best artist who tattooed you their thoughts...
Appreciate the responses and thank you I will take into consideration everything you guys said... Was maybe hoping for a bit more but hey this is what they call "gaining experience" haha
