Ever go into shock when getting a tattoo

I was wondering if anyone's body ever went into shock from getting a tattoo. I was getting my tattoo done on my inner lower forearm. The pain sucked. I ended up getting super cold and the shakes every time I was getting poked by the needle. My first session lasted 3hrs and I have two more sessions to go. I'm a little worried. Does anyone have any advice on what to do so you don't go into shock? Or what to do if this starts to happen again when I go back for my second and third sessions.
Wow....talk about major suckage! I have heard of people passing out but never go into "shock". I have a client who pretty much does the same thing as you describe- cold, shakes etc every time she gets inked, BUT that is as far as it goes. No shock or passing out. Sounds to me like your realllly close to just passing out. On a good note though...you'll get used to it (hopefully!) and learn to deal. I have heard of artists using numbing gel (even I bought one for this client!) but I never used it (she said it was alll part of the experience! LOL!) so it just sits there...maybe you could see if your artist has some or is willing to use it on you. I highly doubt you will go into shock...your nerves and imagination are running a little wild on that one. Good luck!
not so much shock its more of a adrenillian crash and your body using up its sources. eat a sensibile meal about a hour before process take some jolly rancher candys to suck on during process also or suckers drink water lots of water get good rest night before.and remember to breathe during tattoo.this is very normal for newbies,as time goes and you get more work you will find it gets easier bevause you know what to expect.but do take sugar with you even gum will help.best of luck
Thanks for the advice. This isn't my first tattoo. I have 3 others. However, this is the first time this has ever happened to me. The pain on my inner forearm is excruciating. I couldn't wait for my artist to stop. Why oh why did I pick a tattoo that has sooooooo much detail?
