Fading tattoo

hello all, i just got my tattoo on my wrist, tomorrow it will be exactly 2 weeks, over the past week it has been peeling, i know this is normal, I've been putting lubiderm on it after using A&D for 3 days, and the color(only black) has faded since then.  some parts are lighter than others. I've been reading that the color will come back soon, and the pigment just needs to set in, but its already been two weeks, should it take longer to heal?  also, it's not very itchy that often anymore, just once in a while, should i still be applying lotion? will that help with the color coming back? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, pete

a tattoo always heals lighter than when it's fresh.. but the color should be even (depending on the design). if the design is solid it should be solid when it has healed) the color wont come back! the wrist is always difficult because the skin is very thin, so it is easy to over work the skin or to go too deep, causing scarring.. but for an experienced artist this should not be a problem.. every person is different and will heal different.. some people heal quick some take a little bit longer (it could take up to a month for a complete healing) it's impossible to say what is going on with out seeing the tattoo (post a picture) if the lighter parts are raised, its scar tissue, and will always be there.. this is not per se the artists fault, aftercare is essential for a good healing! maybe you picked at the scab, scratched or rubbed against something causing them to come off prematurely.. it could be that all it needs is a simple touch up, go back to the artist and ask him (or her) (it has to be completely healed before touching it up or it will only make things worse, so give it another week or so atleast) the lotion is just to keep your skin from drying out, and to keep the scabs moist so they don't break.. so if all the scabs have fallen off there is no need for more lotion.. itching means the body is healing, if it doesn't itch anymore its pretty much healed
