Finding an apprenticeship in Dallas

I am trying to find an apprenticeship in the DFW area. I am artistic and currently drawing portraits for a living. I have no formal art training, but I have always been able to draw anything that I see. I am tattoo'd and am looking to get my next one from Kat Von D, so you can say that I am very dedicated to the craft and art. If any one can help me out here I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to just get on the phone and call some places, cause eventually your name gets around and that hurts your search more than helping it. I figured that this way might be better due to being word of mouth. Also what all should I have in my portfolio? Like I said I can draw anything that I see so if you would like to see some work you can e-mail me at this addy and I can send you some scans of my work. Thanks again for all the help.
