first tattoo

Hey everyone, Looking to get a tattoo symbolizing independence, and never depending on others. This idea came to me because in my life I have come to realize that when you depend on people they tend to let you down. I want to be able to look at a tattoo of this everyday to remind myself I'm on my own, and that no matter how bad you need someone's help, it's always on you. I had an idea possibly of a phoenix because it rises from its own ashes, and symbolizes rebirth and freedom, but I feel this tattoo is a little played out and am looking for something really unique. just think of something that you look at and it reminds you of it. you can make something mean anything. or even if you like the one you said, you can change it up a bit. toss out some ideas with a tattoo artist. just make sure your happy with it.

If you learn how to depend on the right people, you do get farther in life by letting others help. This culture doesnt cultivate a supportive community, and in my younger years I would have agreed with you 100%, but there are good honest people out there you can count on. Its just a matter of surrounding yourself with the right people, nature sometimes plops you in the middle of assholes.

You could also look into power animals or spirit guides through google. Basically we are a part of the natural world and we resonate with different animals depending on our state of mind. So is there an animal that represents independence to you? One that you would see in the natural world? Cause if there is, imagine how cool it would be to get a tattoo of that animal to remind you, and then when you saw that animal outside you would feel less alone...like you have someone/something to rely on. I hope you find people you can rely on someday...they are out there. Good luck! Dana
