Fixing tattoo error

2 messages · last activity 8/8/2010

I recently got a tattoo of a red and orange phoenix with black flames around it. The tattoo artist made one of the wings black instead of red. Is there anyway to correct this? Put white over than do red? Can I laser it without scarring to put the red over it? Any tattoo fade products that would work well enough to allow red over it? Please help.
Unfortunately black is hard to color over. If the tattoo is fresh, which i am sure it is, the black pigment will be impossible to go over with red...or any color for that matter. If you can not live with how it is. You can always go get it weakened via laser removal, then redone correctly. As for scarring...that is up to the procedure you use to remove the tattoo and the technician doing the procedure, and your ability to heal. So in other words...it is about 50/50 on the scaring. Also, when and if you go through with the removal and reapplication of the tattoo. A lot of factors will decide how well the new tattoo will look. The artist putting it on, the pigments used, and your ability to take the ink well. So this is why it is VITAL that people do their research before they commit to a permanent mark. Make sure the artist fully understands what you want before he starts. Best of luck
