Foot tattoos-longer healing process?

Hi, I just had a lovely tattoo done on the top of my foot two days ago. My foot is swollen , though not horribly so. When I walk, the tat feels very tight..almost like a sunburn. I'm curious if foot tattoos take a bit longer to heal or are harder to heal. My other tats have been all on my back and ankles. I'm also wondering how long I can expect for the foot to be swollen? I've been following aftercare instructions:wash with mild soap and water and apply a very thin layer of Lubriderm. My artist suggested washing 3-4 x a day. I don't remember washing the tats so often before..is that fairly typical? Thanks!
everything your artist has told you is correct... feet tend to encounter a lot more dirt that could cause problems with healing, they also encounter a lot more abrasion, this will lead to harder problems healing. Almost all tattoos feel like a bad sunburn when they are complete. Everything you describe is normal, take care of it, and if you do need a touch up don't hesitate to go back to your artist and ask.
