getting stenciled

7 messages · last activity 9/9/2009

so i am 17 almost 18 and i have known what i want to get tattoo'd on me for about 3 years now and my mind still hasnt changed. but i want to know how it would look on me. if i pay an artist to draw out my tattoo, do you think he/she would put the stencil on me so that i can see if i want in the place and if i want to change anything? im only asking this because im not 18 yet, but i want to know if i should change anything about the tattoo or where i want it. plllleeassseee let me know. thanks
the artist shouldn't have a problem with you having your design stenciled on because we understand that you will possibly have to live with the tattoo for the rest of your life ask them if they would do so if you put a deposit down on the tattoo. they shouldn't have a problem with it and if they do then they aren't being professional and you should look else where. Another option you might consider if it's a color piece is getting a custom temporary tattoo. Might be able to find somewhere local to make it for you, if not try straytats. Should be less than $10 including shipping, order more than one if you can afford it. If you do decide to go the stencil route that shouldn't be a problem either, takes 5 seconds with a thermofax, bit longer if they draw it out. This would also be a good time to find an artist you like if you don't have one picked out yet.
The artist will allow you to look at the stencil before you get tattooed. He or she will re-position it if you don't like it. So the real issue here is, you are the lowest level of tattoo collector. You are set on what you want for a tattoo, but you have probably not even picked an artist. Here's a tip, check out all the awesome artists on this site and beyond. Go to good conventions. Understand that tattoos should be a collaboration between collector and artist. And it should be a work of custom art, by the artist. Not some image you found on the internet or drew yourself. Sounds like you have a lot to learn before you think about getting tattooed. Don't waste an artists time tattooing something thats not even portfolio worthy.

i dont plan on having him stencil on what i drew myself, i know 100% that its what i want to get, but i was going to have the artists i want to draw it up and see how his comes out, and btw i do have an artist in mind, i have already done my research, i know i suck ass at drawing, thats why i want to have my artist draw it up and throw on the stencil so i can see if i want to change anything before i get it done.
