gift for tattooist

hi all, instead of tipping the tattooist, i have heard it is a little more appreciated by an artist to recieve a gift rather than cash as a tip. what is a good gift for a tattooist? i know it probably depends on what that particular artist is into, but do you guys have any general ideas on what to give an artist? thx.

If you happen to be an artist, your tattooist might enjoy a piece of your original art. I got one from a painter once and it was awesome. Really unexpected. But cool as hell either way.

I have found artists appreciate either cash or whatever it is you get a great markup/deal on, something of serious quality that you know about an no one else does, or something you create (if its worth more than the cash, ha!)

look at the artist there clothing.there station talk to them while your getting inked find out there likes.for example some may be decorating there station in asian style or maybe a car style music. see where i am going with this.might i recomened tip them and then come back a cpl days later with a gift and a card of thanks. my greatest tip is the smile on your face and its a real rush when they want pictures taken with me,to show there friends this is the artist.peace
