Yeah that's bound to happen when you have no clue of what ya buying or doing. an 18/18g spring configuration will suit you in most terrains.

I got one, put it together and tuned in about 10 minutes, and it runs great... BUT I studied long and hard on how to assemble and tune them properly via company recommendations. No complaints from any of my artists that have used it. (except for the retarded hex wrench tube vise, which is easily fixed with a wingnut.) Sorry if too technical. BTW, sound is the least effective method of tuning them, which is clearly stated in the documentation. Do your homework before you slam an otherwise excellent machine.
