HELP NEEDED TO DESIGN MY 1ST TATTOO

I am about to have my 1st tattoo done next week ... I have been building up to this day for years !! I have an idea in mind but would love someone to actually design it for me .... All it needs to include is the number 7 and a butterfly and I would like it to be really girly and pretty and totally unique !! I was born on the 7-7-77 so I have to have a 7 in the design and I am mad on butterflys. If anyone is able to help me make this come true I would love to hear from you. Hopefully hear from someone soon ??? Thanks

Find an artist to design it for you...and pay for it. READ the admin post "Looking for an artist or design?" Nothing comes for free..this has been said a million times on this forum!!

I have looked for someone to design it in my own town but unfortunatly no one will ... I am not expecting anyone to do it for FREE and I did READ the admin remarks .. thanks

There are several reasons why the person who should design your tattoo should be the actual person who does the tattooing, it's mostly all common sense. But for the sake of happy fun logic, say you had someone who you thought was a pretty decent artist make the tattoo design. She uses all these crazy architectual lines, because indeed she used to be an designer and she likes geometry and art deco and so forth. It's still a wonderful design, you love it and you take it to your local tattoo artist. Local tattoo artist likes curving lines, he likes art nouveau, and as far as he's concerned, art deco was a total sham that exploited the wealth obsessed culture of the 30's..and so forth. He likes Botticelli, and Ingres. So you come to him with this super geometrical design, and he takes a very long, mournful type look at it. Sure, he can do it, but he doesn't particularly like doing it, and all the time during the tattooing he's thinking "God, I hate geometric design, reminds me of art deco which was a total sham that exploited...." Anyway, there's very little of him invested in the design, you get what you brought in, nothing less...and certainly not a thing more. All of this really could have been avoided by chosing an artist based on their style. Saying to yourself, "Self, I like this kind of design" and then rooting around for awhile, looking at different tattoos from different artists, and finding a design aesthetic similar to your own. Then you go to that guy, and you say "Hello tattoo artist, I have a design that you love doing, I'm going to pay you well for doing something you love, are you down with that?" Nine out of ten times not only will the guy or gal of your choosing be completely down with it, they will also then say "Sure lady! Also, I think if we do this, this and also this, it will make your design rock hardcore." So, the one moral of this very long winded story, is that an excited artist is a better artist than a kind of bored and agitated one. Try talking to the artist you want about your design, it's much less messy and a waste of time than trying to have someone draw up something for you to take to your tattoo artist.

hey deidre...thanks so much for that piece of logic...truly. I'm in that design extension process myself (first phase of my back is done and its beautiful) and for the remaining phases its important for me to come up with a pleasing idea that my tattoo artist will enjoy putting on me. I love all his work (found him on this website even) and knew he'd do awesome job. I thought I was just being silly because I understand it IS a job...but I like to think he likes the final art just as much as I do...so thanks for the intel
