How does having tattoos affect the way you are viewed in society

I am doing my Junior research paper on how having tattoos affects the way people are viewed in society. I am stongly against discrimination against tattooed people in any way. My opinion may be biased simply because I, myself, have a tattoo done by Steve Martin of Black 13 tattoo parlor. Furthermore my dad, Meyer II, is pretty heavily tattooed himself. I am not allowed to include my personal opinions in this paper and am looking for anyone's opinions.
