Look im 17 and for my 18th bday i told my bf that i wanted a tattoo and he said i should get one like his... i didnt know he had a tattoo but he did and it was of the hatchettman...i dont know what icp is....but today i listened to their music im into RAP and nothing but RAP and hip hop but i like this band and im seriously thinking about getting this tat. but i have questions that maybe someone can help me answer... 1.is it considered a gang? 2.can you "slash your hatchett?" 3.does that mean you are out of the "gang" 4. can you get back in if you do? 4.what does it mean to be a juggalette? i know i could be looking it up on the internet right now... but i want to read what ppl say and think...not what is psted on a site and never changed no matter ehat some on thinks your help would be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks (icp fan?)

Listen kid, you want to get a tattoo just to get one because you are turning 18. I know that's what you're doing because for my first one, that's what I did. That tattoo has long been covered up since, because I just got something just to have a tat. Think about what you want and pick something that years from now you will still look at and appreciate and not say to yourself "god, that was stupid, thos ICP guys are fools." Now as far as the ICP stuff goes. I look at it as a cultish following of some dudes that are just making stupid songs of no worth to the music industry whatsoever beside money. I understand that some people think of it as a "brotherhood" or "family", but the Juggalos or Jugallettes have way more negative connotations than positive ones. In a way it is a gang depending on how crazy and stupid the "juggalos" or "juggalettes" you know are. A lot of these followers (and that's exactly what they are, followers) just get these tats so people in their own circle, who also like the band, will think they are cool or they are "down". If you really want to get something related to ICP and nothing will stop you, then get a badass original custom clown or something of that sort. So that way, you can have it for your reasons (which are worshipping some dumb band) and be "down" with your friends, but then when you grow out of it and realize it was a stupid decision you can still have a nice piece of artwork that doesn't need to be directly linked to ICP and all their dumb shit. So, when someone asks you about it, you can just tell them you like clowns...that's the only reasonable thing I could think of. Anyway, being that you really didn't know who the hell ICP was and really didn't listen to their music before your friend gave you a CD to listen to, I think it's pretty dumb for you to even be thinking about doing such a thing. It's like your friend told you, "Hey, ICP is the shit. Get a tattoo of them or the hatchet man" and you just got the CD and were like, "Yeah, they're kinda cool.....I guess I'll get a tattoo of something having to do with them." You're not even a huge fanatic of theirs or anything, you're just looking for a random ass reason to get a tattoo. Sorry, if I come off as a dick, but you don't make a decision about a tattoo like that. Just going off a whim. Think about it. Shit, I'm 24 and my views about certain music and life in general are completely different from when I was 21, let alone when I was 18.

I would stay away from the situation of getting a tattoo that someone else has because they think it would be cool. Other then that I have no answers to your questions. Get a tattoo YOU want, no one your bf has.... that just seems like a cover up waiting to happen to me.

I love Insane Clown Posse. They are one of my favorite bands. But if you have no idea what they are about & you know nothing about them or they're music. Then just leave it alone. I'm going to get a badass tattoo of a hatchetman. But it's because I made up my own mind to get that, not because my boyfriend wanted me too

I really hope this is a joke because it contains just about all of the worst reasons to get a tattoo, but I'm afraid that it's not. As abel_ j said, it sounds like you are getting this tattoo just to get a tattoo, which is generally a bad idea in ANY case, but ESPECIALLY in this case. Tattoos are permanent, UNLIKE boyfriends and musical tastes. Judging from your post, it seems that you are only (at best) a passing fan of ICP and not really familiar with their music or the (often negative) stigma attached to it; a stigma that could keep you from getting a good, professional job later in life if your tattoo is visible. Be smart, and be an individual; don't get a tattoo of a band you don't really like for a boyfriend you will almost certainly break up with at an age when you are still defining yourself and your views.
