Idle Hands (Hope this isnt true)

I saw this as a 'repost' on myspace- so I cant claim its legitimacy. Feel free to delete if it comes up untrue, but I thought it was worth posting here because so many artists check these forums. Rather err on the side of good and remind people DONT BUY STOLEN SHIT!!!! ******************************************************************** hi all, some people are assholes. last night (wednesday, march 22), some of these aforementioned people robbed idle hand tattoo in san francisco. the shop was broken into and all of jason tyler grace and holly ellis' tattoo machines were taken (approximately 14 total). the thieves also took tubes and other expensive equipment before leaving. if you know anything about tattooing, you know that without their machines, jason and holly are now completely unable to work. which means they can't make money until they get new machines (often costing upwards of $300 each!). i am going to try to work with idle hand and some other people to get a fundraiser organized. please keep your ears peeled. until then, i am asking that anyone in the bay area tattoo community please be on the lookout for people selling tattoo machines and equipment off the street...they might be jason or holly's machines! if you see this, please contact me or anyone at idle hand... everyone else, please repost this so we can get the word out. and be nice to holly and jason. they're having a rough day. love, -melissa

with 14 machines between two artists I think it was pretty stupid to have all there eggs in one basket so to speak. Tips and tubes included. Also I cant imagine running a shop and not having minimal shop insurance to cover any theft of my livelyhood.

All that aside.. It sucks..Sorry to hear.

Ever try getting insurance for a tattoo studio? If getting a claim filled is 2 times as easy as finding someone to actually cover a tattoo shop its still not gonna be pretty story, and that certainly doesn't help for the tattoos that are booked, say, today. Calling Jason, Holly, (and TJ) stupid for keeping their machines at a very respected studio in the heart of San Francisco is a bit outta line in my opinion... at least yer gonna remember to bring your machines home when you get back in a studio (and hopefully yer home wont get broken into!).

wasnt calling stupid. Un thinking maybe. I would Dam well have backup equipment SOMEWHERE. You hear a lot of breakins at tattoo shops. Why would you NOT have spare so as not to be completely shut down by these thieves! To each thier own.

I am willing to offer to build a machine. Id rather build 2 knowing they were salting 1 away. But just dont have the spares at the moment for two. Taz. or Gabe, Just email me with the address. Again..Im sorry this happened. My comments are really directed at ALL in the buisness. Its YOUR livelyhood. Seems Im hearing this same story a lot. I am just saying ....PROTECT yourselves.

Sorry john ol pal I gotta disagree....Blaming the victim for being burglarized?...Thats kinda like sayin she deserved to get raped cause she wore sexy clothes. I DO agree however that we should all be prepared...I know I am....Insurance for a tattoo shop is almost impossible to get but I keep enough stuff in storage to outfit a whole shop plus I have a good alarm system at all my shops. But if a theif wants in badly enough they WILL get in. Any way my whole point is NOBODY deserves to be victimized!!!

stupid, unthinking, blah. They are well loved. I did talk to Jason today and the amount of support Idle Hands received was overwhelming and within a few hours they had everything taken care of. While they would love to accept all the help that is offered, Im under the impression that things are settled and solved.

LOL,,,,Taken out of context again. ANYone can get burglarized....I am saying to them and EVERYONE else.....Its STUPID to be unprepared for it. I have been JUST that kinda stupid many times.
