im looking to get another rib piece, except full of bright colors. i need some good insight and oppinions. i have a colored tatto of smurfette on my calf but it came out really crappy...plenty of artists and doctors have said that it was the artist that messed up and that it wasnt my skin, but im very hesitant to use color again. im not "dark" skinned, im half sicilian, my skin tone is yellowish in the winter and red toned in the summer...i dnt know if my body is going to react to the colors, i dnt know if it will come out right, should i find someone who speacializes in "colored" skine....someone please help....im looking to get this tat soon, and its gunna be a big piece and i want it 2 be beautiful....

I've heard that black, red, and green, are the best colors for dark skinned people..But since you say your not dark skinned,it must be the tattooer you wen't to that messed up your piece..I would go visit shop's in your area, and look at the artists portfolio's,and talk to them personally..Some shop's in your area.

I don't know if you are still looking at this thread for advice cause it's already a month or so old...but I think that a lot of colors look stunning on light-dark skin. a lot of the good micro pigments (most of the good colors that have come out in recent years) just glow when they are put in nicely. I tattooed a few people with really dark skin and found it pretty challenging. Some of the darker colors seem to just vanish without the intense contrast of a pale background. Backlighting dark forms with rich brights like white, bright greens, yellow and bright orange with white brought forms back out. Lighter dark skin seems to do just the opposite. it gives a beautiful undertone to brilliant colors making them really shine. good luck!
