I am a fifteen year old girl from florida and I was thinking about getting a tattoo in memory of my mother who killed herself about two years ago, I realize this site isnt a big supporter of minors getting tattoos but this is really important to me, what do you guys think?
You should still wait until you're at least 18 because you'll have a tough time finding a good tattoo artist that will tattoo a minor, and it will be easy to find a not so good artist. Since it's a tribute to your mom, you want it to come out nice, right? Really, if you know for sure that you want this particular tattoo, you'll have no problem waiting the 3 years to have it done right, and who knows, you might change your mind as to what kind of a tribute you'll want in memory of your mother. Sorry for your loss.
i think its right, i miss my brother ony who died on jan,.10,2006. i want to get a tattoo in memory of him, i am sorry about your mother, may she rest in peace, and may tony rest in peace. i love you tony. love andria
Although in most cases I think a minor should always wait for a tattoo until they are 18 or so, I do see and understand why you want to get a memorial. Like Krystof said you will have alot of trouble finding a good artist to do it for you. My only reeal advice for you is DO NOT let some amature/scratcher do your piece. Memorials are by far the most sacred of all tattoos in my opinion. Given that they mean soo much to the person getting them, they are also the tattoo that requires the most thought design wise as well as being a piece that should be done only by the hand of a true tattoo master for perfection's sake. I wish you the best of luck in your search for a master artist that is willing to do your piece. If you cannot find a master tattoist to do it please please wait.
I think it's a lovely idea and obviously will be very special to you. However, you are a minor and I would suggest you really think about waiting until you are 18. People change a lot in three years, especially at this time of your life and you want to make sure you love the design you choose, especially because it will be on your body for the rest of your life. I wanted a tattoo since I was about fourteen and liked one particular design for about two years. Even though I knew I could get it done I waited until my 18th birthday to make sure I really liked the design. I'm totally in love with it now but I really hope you decide to wait until it's legal. If your mum was still alive, would she really be happy with you getting a tattoo at 15? Best wishes, m. x
I'm sorry for your loss, and think it's a wonderful idea that you want to hold a memory of your mother in a tattoo. However, don't take what these people say lightly. If you try and do it now, a number of things are very likely to happen. 1. What nobody has mentioned yet, and what i think to be very important, your body is not done growing yet. If you get somethign done now, and you either hit a growth spurt up, out, who knows how your body will rearange, it will change the tattoo. Then, the tattoo will be messed up and you may have to get it re-done 2. as they said, you will have a lot of trouble finding a professional artist that will tattoo you and do the tattoo justice. 3. and, while you've already had two years to think about it, 3 more can only help to make the design that much more perfect for her memory.
Hey kaylee...I am sooo sorry for your loss...but I will make a deal with you...If you wait till you are 18 I will see to it that you get hooked up with a great artist who will give you exactly what you want as a memorial tattoo...You just e-mail me and I promise you will get a tattoo that you will be proud of forever!..sincerely..TAz
i think it is a good idea. I got my tattoo last year when i was 15 in memory of my mother. If you loved your mother like i do even if u argued like i did with my mother you know in the end you are sorry for what you done and you wish you had never done it. But you always love your mother so its a good idea to get a tattoo. Because i know she is with me all the time. So if i dont get burried next to her she will always be with me on my shoulder. xxxxFROM ADRIAN SORRY ABOUT YOUR MOTHERxxxx
