in search of advice

Hello, I am looking to start into tattooing. I, of course, know I need an aprenticship. I have (and I'm sad to say it) marked up some friends. On the plus side, (if there is one) the work I did didn't come out half as bad as some of their other stuff. Lucky for them I have been getting tattooed by a really good artist for a while now and had picked up some just from watching him work. Anyway, getting off subject. I am posting this to explain my situation and get the advised from all of you on the best course of action I can take. I am 24 married with a 1 1/2 year old little girl and a purchased home. With all of that, there is no way for me not to keep a full time job while doing the apprenticeship. I work 4 10 hour days a week and have 3 off days. My wife and I have spoken about my need (there is no other word for it) to learn to tattoo the right way, and she understands and supports me in this, all while understanding that I will pretty much not be home much at all for at the very least a year and probably more. I just want any advice anyone could give for someone in my current set up. Did any of you have a similar situation when you were starting out? Any help would be wounderful. I thank everyone in advance and I'm sorry to anyone who is angered about the fact that I have done some tats, fucking peer pressure is a bitch. I look forward to any advise or just comments in general. thank you again -PJ-
