Itchy tattoo

Hi, there are times that some small spots here and there get really itchy on my new tattoo. I avoid scratching it as I should, but this is very very difficult to do, even with the aid of lotion. Instead of scratching though, is it ok to pinch/poke it with the tip of your fingernail? Just to press into it enough without scratching at it.

I used to have similiar itchy bumps when I get new tattoos (only certain inks though). It eventually goes away...It could be other things though. Have you changed soap, detergent, fabric softner, lotion etc....sometimes a small allergy can cause that, but it is a common complaint and will most likely get better. Don't scratch, itch, poke, put your nail on it etc...especially while it's healing. If it's still that bad after it heals ice it...and go to a doctor if it's a prolonged complaint! Good luck!
