About this site: If no technical questions are allowed to help improve the quality of newbie’s, Then why is it allowed for every leech that sees an easy dollar allowed to advertise for help in the decay of the tattoo world ? Most everyone feels its unwise/wrong to open studios without learning the trade unless it’s them, You know the exception to the rule quote. So is everyone an exception or is it proper to attack the industry one-way but not the other ? Just curious………. Don’t you Tattooist/Artist find it insulting people feel your too stupid to run a successful studio without “their “ secret business knowledge ? Here is the big secret : A working tattoo artist….

Secret business knowledge?......fyi: it certainly takes a hell of alot more than a working tattoo artist to run a succesfull business! they certainly have something to do with it yes....but that aint all it takes. running a prosperous/succesfull business is alot of hard work and time and takes a whole hell of alot more than just an artist working in it to make it succeed ! and who said that artist are portrayed as stupid people....thats a huge farce! I happen to know quite a few artist`s and everyone that i know happen to be extremely talented people inside and outside the studio walls......but thats just one mans opinion........

To me its a matter of responsibility. I dont feel its responsible (or even practicle) to learn much from a public open forum. Posting technical info that cant really be controlled for quality is going to cause much more irresponsible behavior than improvement of the quality of scratchers work. Basically, if you have to ask here, the answer is your not ready to learn to tattoo( or open a studio). If you worked for years and years and have learned all the questions and answers, then your ready. The fact of the matter is, if you go through this website, the ones we link to, and the many many others of quality tattoo artists, you will learn all you need to know about how to better yourself and work your way into being a tattoo artist the responsible way. Talented artists dont hide their knowledge out of spite or greed, they pass it on to people whom they feel will be responsible with it. Cause who you bring into this artform reflects directly on you, and those peoples actions on the publics skin are on your karma. I dont want artists who surf the internet to learn to tattoo's work on my karma. Im suprised Im being encouraged by a professional artist to open a public forum to technical talk, but hey, theres a first time for everything. Im not an ass, you can talk about the technical aspects of tattooing on other boards to your hearts content, and I dont even care! We will open up a technical talk board in the future, have a meeting monday about the hows and whens for a lot fo this site. I understand theres a need, please be patient everyone! Allowing people to post classified ads is a little annoying (cause I'd rather they buy a classified and support the site) but I'll err on the side of allowing people to post help wanted messgaes if they want and letting the artists interested figure out for themselves who is worth working for or not... It seems like Im being asked to allow technical tattoo talk on a public forum while at the same time vet who posts classifieds. How many headaches are you trying to give me??? I have enough thank you. In any event, I agree it is very unwise to open a studio without learning the trade. You need to know *any* industry in and out before going into business in it, but tattooing more so because of the responsibility of peoples hides... The tattoo waters are very dangerous, people who dont know tattooing well will usually end up generating revenues from other avenues which distracts from the art and isolates the artists... we've all seen it. I know, I know, josey, I dont actually tattoo so you dont believe I could actually know the trade, but I can honeslty tell you that working alongside some really amazing artists for a decade+ is an education. Maybe the proper terminology is I know the industry and not necessarily the trade (though I know a lot about how to tattoo by this point). Certianly the people who have loads of dough and buy their way in cause they have gotten tattoos for ten years and know a few artists wont get that far (unless they have lots of dough I guess, but their potential is limited by their very nature). Whatever, while there are no "rules" to keep people out, per sa, nature takes care of itself... When studio owners and scratchers (working from home or in a studio) fuck up the public, thats their karma and our cover-ups tattoos. We dont need to hunt them down wherever they are and get pissed and call out internet witch hunts (though, people get what they deserve and Im not crying for anyone), but we can just keep covering their shit for $$$ and educating the public about high quality artists. And discourage inferior work in an approperiate responsible manner. And helping people who help themselves, not people looking for the secrets of tattooing on a public forum... Lastly (phew!) I dont think any artist is too stupid to run a studio, but often if they know how, they also know the headaches and for many its certianly easier to work for yourself in a private place or for someone else who takes those headaches away... the studio also needs to add something to the mix the artist doesnt have or cant get somewhere else easier. I work with a ton of artists and most of the successful ones are very smart. Ive seen a few tattoo artists drive sucessful studios into the ground. And non-tattoo artist owners rely on two artists and lose a lot of dough cause once their artists jetted they couldnt find anyone good to hire. There are assholes everywhere and they come in all shapes and sizes. Always glad to chat with you, as you know, sorry if I repeated myself...
