I am looking to get a large back piece as a tribute to my children, who have horror movie names. I want a castle and a tree, largely black/white, with some bursts of color for dramatic effect. I have pictures and ideas, but no definite design in mind. I would like a dark, shadowy, horror movie effect (not cartoonish or corny).
I'm just a working mom and I have no connections to the tattoo world whatsoever. I've been searching for an artist for awhile, but I really just don't even know what I'm looking for...
OK, I need a sterile environment with professional people. But... what is considered a reasonable price (I don't want to cheap out, I just really don't even have a guess)? How do I know if the artist is great at the style I'm looking for? How do I feel out an artist to see if s/he actually wants to do my piece or if they're just doing it because they feel obligated (like I've seen on Miami Ink)?
If there are any artists out there who like horror movies, would like to create a custom design and would like to do a tattoo that can be worked around my post-baby body, I'd be happy to visit your shop.

I would say that S. Victor Whitmill would be the right person for this one. Here is his homepage www.paradoxstudios.com
I can ashure you that he really is an artist whit a capital A. He even has a cool name ;) You just contact him, or visit the shop, and tell him or his assistant what you have in mind. And Victor is strictly a custom artist so he will definetly take time to talk to you of what you want and will make you feel right at home. So you dont have to worry that he is doing it just for the money.
I hope you like his style. Let us know how things progress :)
Crap! Sorry, I didnt remember that he has moved from Vegas :( He is actually in Midwest...I dont know how long it is from Vegas, but I would travel to get work for him, because the idea sounded perfect for him. If you dont want to travel outside Vegas, then he www.insanetattoos.com is the next best thing in your town. Sorry about the mix up
