I recently started a leg tattoo on Wednesday (July 29) and had it finished up on Friday (July 31) It's about an inch above my ankle, and goes up to about mid to top of my calf. The whole thing is black and blue, I mean colored in that way. I noticed some swelling on Saturday afternoon, and have been keeping an eye on it since. The swelling is pretty consistant, not getting any bigger, not really getting any smaller. I try to keep it propped up when I'm at home, but being a parent to a youngin, it's hard to just sit all day.
My leg is almost double in size from right below the knee down. My foot and ankle is the worst part. It only hurts when I'm walking for a while, or when I rub it against something. It's not hot, or red, but it does ooze a little bit when I stand for long periods, or move around a lot.
Incidentally, I got a small arm tat that same day, and that one is healing just fine. Finally starting to flake off. That one is warm to the touch, but no pain or anything.
I have heard horror stories about leg tats being infected, being allergic to the ink and all that. I must say, I have no idea what that feels like. That one was my 6th tat, and the only one that seems to be giving any swelling. The other 5 are all on my arms. Basically, I'm back and forth about going to the Dr. It doesn't hurt, it's not pussing and it's not hot. I'm putting my Bacitracin on it 3-4 times a day, keeping it on a pillow at night, and airing it out when I can. But a the same time, I don't remember any swelling with my other ones. Maybe just location?

Legs and ankles especially tend to swell a lot, especially if you got it tattooed two days very close to each other, and got another tattoo on top of that. Tattoos are a bit of an attack on the amune system so your body is going to try to heal it. From what you're describing it sounds normal enough, but if you're concerned consult a physician. We're not doctors and especially without seeing it, damned if I know, but it sounds pretty normal to me.
