Mentors and Apprenticeships

I was curious what the general Consensus is regarding the mentor and the apprenticeship process? I know each person and shop vaires but how long would one expect to do B*tch work? How long does an apprenticeship last in or should it last in general? If you have learned everything from the proper sterilization to setting up and so on when should one expect to get to really start tattooing and learning techniques? A year after that Two years? especially if you paid for your apprenticeship? ( Not looking for anything this is just a general question :) ) Thanks!!

the apprenticeship offered at our studio will be at least two years. When you start tattooing has everything to do with how much you watch and get tattooed, how driven you are to draw (are you going to the bar in your spare time or home to draw?), and how intuitive/smart you are. You start tattooing when your mentor feels you wont fuck up someones skin.

where you sign up? where do we send a portfolio? I have a student who loves to draw and he is into tattoing. I am a teacher at the Juvenile hall... any help? All information given would be appreciated. Helping youngsters to see other means in life brings amazing results..! please help!!

if you agree or disagree.....but i believe not everyone can be a tattoo artist....it depends upon a person.....it depends upon artistic views ...can you draw exactly or may be close to it you envision in your brain.....literally...as everyone know not everyone can perform surgery on someone ....(in my case i cannot tear up a skin (medical carpenter)).....it depends how quick of a leaner ur ....if someone gives you to copy an image of lion tells to draw..... asks you, what can you do with???...If that person puts lion perfectly but then TRIES to add it own flavor to it (example makes it biomechincal lion ) ....is the man.....see mike devries....he started tattooing in an year or two...while look at dumb ass yogi...he can't even do a straight line even after 2 years under psycho (shown on the show, might not be in real life lol) ami james ...so depends ON YOUR OWN artistic skills. no offense to all
