I am looking for some help/advise... My son is 16, is very artistic and wants to learn how to tattoo. I can not find anything explaining what I need to do to help him get into it the right way to be successful. an apprentis prg?, a school?, etc... what is the best way to go about helping him get started? I'm a singleparent, I live pay/ck to pay/ck... I will do what ever it takes to help him... but cant afford to 'waste money' on things or a way that isn't right. Please help.... clueless... lol~
Get together to boys best artwork and and find the artists in your area. Show them his work and find out if they would be willing to apprentice him. Some places may charge you for this learning experience, it is basically school, but many artist will be willing to do this for free (exchange of free labor) if his artwork is exceptional. The best thing to NOT do, is what I and many others did, learning by trial and err. Make sure this doesn not happen, or else he will be labeled a scratcher for the rest of his life. If you do find a good artist who is wiling to give your son this training, make sure he sticks to it, it will take a long time to learn but its well worth it, there is no better way to learn.....
tell him to get good grades work hard and go to art school, even a community college, then try and get an apprenticeship
