My color on my tattoo is gone, why?

I did my tattoo in my house with a tattoo kit. It's been a week and now the color on the tattoo is like gone/faded. why?
you probably have no clue what your doing and using shitty bottom of the line equipment
There are soooo many reasons why the ink didn't take; didn't go deep enough, crappy machine, shotty springs, power supply not up high enough to penetrate skin, power supply up too high, bad needles etc.... Everyones gonna say get an apprenticeship. Which IS the best way to go... but you're gonna do what you feel you gotta do, so read, read, read... not just these forums. Do tons of research, get tattooed by really good artists and watch what they do... make friends with a good tattoo artist and maybe they'll help you out even if an apprenticeship isn't possible. I hear people saying, "tattooing can't be too difficult, I can color inside the lines" I call, BULLSHIT... tattooing is VERY difficult and like I said, there are sooo many factors to consider in tattooing. And PLEASE, for your own safety and others, make sure you are sterilizing properly... thoroughly study what needs to be done to prevent the spread of bloodborne pathogens... you're gonna find in your research that just having a kit isn't good enough... put that kit away for now... AUTOCLAVE... Good Luck
You already answered your own question in the first sentence you posted.
My thoughts exactly Mary!!! No doubt there are some kick ass home studios (Guy comes to mind), but for God's sake.....put down the machine and do some research first. This is a serious business, with some scary results if you do not know what you're doing and haven't bothered to educate yourself before hand.
