Im a tattoo apprentice and am to the point I am doing small tattoos on customers like Kanji's and stuff. I need to move with my wife to another state about 9 hours away from the shop Im apprenticing in. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I should do about trying to get into another shop, what the odds are of that happening, what should i have in my portfolio, will they make me start all over again, and anything else you can think of. This is really bothering me because I dont want to risk losing my dream
Need advice from tattoo artists about my apprenticeship

Best bet is to call some of the local shops wherever you are moving to and explain the situation to them, and ask all your questions. Also if you have a good relationship with your mentor see if he'll give you a good recommendation and possibly put in a phone call, that should help with having to not start from scratch again. But start out contacting them yourself, you don't want it to seem like he's pushing you off onto them.
Best of Luck, it's always hard to start over, i learned that first hand.
Divorce, seems to be your only option at this point.
