Hi i want to learn how to be a tattoo artist but no shops where i live are taking on apprentices, i need advice as well as tips and any information that a rookie might need to know. I already have a tattoo kit, but i am having problems setting up my maching from liner to shader, what needles to use for certain tattoo's basically the basics if any artist would like to help me i could use all the help i can get just email me at [email removed] with some information thanks for your time
just try stuff out on your own legs, you'll get the hang of it and just clean everything in the sink with some shampoo, thats all there is to it really.
Well thats one way to go about it.. Id suggest you draw your ass off and work on building a very strong art portfolio.. then start looking for a studio within your driving range that you can show off your work.. or check back in to the shops you've already been to.. If you have a killer protfolio its harder for them to say "were not taking on an apprentice" gives you a much better chance.. you tattoo kit is pretty much junk.. I mean I guess its ok to practice with but you will quickly learn it was a HUGE waste of money.. tattooing isnt something you can just JUMP into.. granted some people have natural talent and all that. but there is still ALOT of learning to be had.. study up on Cross contamination.. blood born pathogens and how to properly clean and dispose of waste materials in your area.. do you have a sharps container for proplery disposing of your needles? its amazing how many people overlook that little tid bit.. but right away wanna know how to tune a machine.. Its an art for my friend.. takes more then just a few emails with someone to learn the proper way to do it..
Is it possible to be auto train yourself: Yes Is it the best route to choose: OF COURSE NOT! The actual tattooing stage is the last thing to learn. Take courses about BBP, CC, CPR. Enroll (if you didn't yet) At an art school. Draw and study anatomy. You have a lot of homework to do before you start a machine. Going to solo route will cost you and the others a lot of negligence. Move to another city if that is an option. Use the internet to get in touch with artists that might be interested in your paper art and will be interested in training you. Good luck.
