Old swollen tattoo

I've had a small tattoo for 5 years on the back of my hip. I just noticed in the shower that a portion of it was definitely swollen. I didn't know this could happen after I've had it for so long, I had no problems initially and it had healed just fine. Should I be worried, is this normal?

Theres always some scarring with every tattoo. When the tattoo becomes irritated the scar will raise up for a bit. It can be because of sun exposure or sunburn, slapping, scratching, rough clothing or even stress. Tthe tattoo will lay flat again in a day or so. The same thing happens with stretch marks.

yup along with diet change,alchol,meds,soaps,shampoos,heat ect.ect.

LIke they said, totally normal. No worries.
