OK all you artists out there how do you handle this situation....a client comes in ...you spend some time discussing what they want and then comes the BIG question...MONEY!!! You carefully consider how much time and effort you will be putting into the tattoo and give them what you consider to be a reasonable price and they say....A...I won't pay that much will you take $??? ( much less than your price) or B..Well Joe Jizz up the street will do it for$??? ( again much less than your estimate)
What do you do when this comes up?......Ta..I mean Frank
price haggling

We all have had this happen unfortunatly too many times. I try to be nice and say check out portfolios and choose. If you feel your art is worth what you asked for than stick to it. I have done that in the past and I loose interest in doing the piece and thats not fair for for the client nor myself. So personally I dont price haggle anymore.
A couple of different possibilities.
problem: "Yo, but the guy up the street will do it for x amount"
response: "If he feels his quality is less then mine, then by all means, go up the street, but be sure to come see me when you're ready for a nice tattoo" (this type of response is to only be used when another shop who is known to lowball the price just to get people in the door is in question, many times people make up price quotes just to get you to come down on yours)
problem: "How much for this one", "$200", "$200?!? How about $120??" , "Nope, like I said, $300", "$300!!! You just said $200!!!!", "Deal, $200 it is"
And once again our methods are surprisingly similsr almost to an eerie degree Krystof....was I you in a previous reincarnation?...T
