price of tattoo?

What is the typical price for a small tattoo (probably two inches in diameter) in California? Also, will it look stupid if I decide to get a really simple design? (Cause, judging from the tattoo size and time, it's almost not worth the effort, if you know what I'm saying.)

How long is a piece of string?...An excellent tattoo that you love is priceless, and a free tattoo served with a side of Hep c will be costly beyond your wildest dreams!...but if you want a dollar figure, there are shops that have a $50 minimum, and others that charge $500/hr...so there is your price range... Start by finding an artist whos work you love, 2)come up with a design with that artist,and 3) ask for an estimate.

So many variables!!!!!...Where in Cali?...If you are in a place like LA then the minimum is going to be substantially higher than if you are in a smaller city...Who is the artist?....That cn make a big difference not only in price but also in the quality of work.....This question just cannot be answered simply...I would suggest visiting with as many artists in as many shops as is practicable for you...look at portfolios...talk to artists...feel them out and go with someone not because they are the cheapest and closest to home but because their work struck you personally as a style you like and you like their attitude...what concerns me about your question is you statement that it "might not be worth it"....Any tattoo no matter how small is "worth it"....Is it worth it to YOU...is the question you should be asking yourself....and cost should only be a minor consideration...way behind the selection of a good artist and being ready to commit to a lifelong decision....If I detect any hesitation in a potential client I WILL make them wait and reconsider....Take your time...think it out ...when you are sure THEN and only then find an artist....We do so many coverups that I think its a shame that more people don't put a lot of thought into being tattooed...
