scared fo rmy tattoo

i got my tattoo on my ankle exactly a week ago... and ive been reading a lot about the healing process and what its supposed to look like and such... but mine doesnt look like that... my has been flaking off like crazy and it looks as if my skin is red underneath...like it melted off im going to get it looked at today by the artist...but im scared and was wondering if anyone knew what i was talking about?

If it just looks shiny like a decal that's peeling around the edges, then it's normal. It will peel several times during the healing process. Foot and ankle tattoos tend to take longer to heal than tattoos on areas of the body closer to the heart. Every one of mine have gone through a period where they didn't look so great. TCE
